Introduction to Two-Color Brioche

Sat. September 29, 3-5pm

Want to learn how to diversify your knitting by integrating color and contrast - making even the most average knitted item new and exciting? Learn two color brioche with this small hat project that will help you learn the basics of two color brioche. No need to be familiar with single color brioche. Pattern will be provided in class.


Supply List

• 125 yards each of two contrasting colors DK (#3) weight yarn

Suggestion: Birch Tree Fiber Arts Co. DK (debuting at the Fingerlakes Fiber Festival), or Dream in Color Classy, or Into the Whirled Yarn and Fiber Co. DK

• US #2, 16" circular needle

• US #4, 16” circular needle

Britneys Bulky Beanie Fairisle Hat

October 27 & November 17, 3-5pm

Class Fee: $30 + Pattern Fee (Ravelry aprox $5.00)

Level Intermediate and up

Learn to work fair isle by knitting this fun hat. From a distance it looks like large knit stitches. You will also learn how to “trap” the yarn across a longer stretch of plain knitting. The hat is worked in the round.

Supply List:

• Pattern: Britneys Bulky Beanie by Jenny Alderbrant

• 2 skeins (50 gram, 210m) of fingering yarn in two contrasting colors. Suggestion: Lang Yarns Jawoll Superwash

• US #2 and US #3, 16” circular

Homework:

• Print pattern from Ravelry https://www.ravelry.com/projects/bigred01/gretas-grovstickadebritneys-bulky-beanie

• Work the first 16 rows as written in the pattern. So that we can begin knitting in the fair isle pattern in class.

Fixing Lace and Cable Mistakes

Sat., May 12, 1-4pm

Level: Intermediate and up

Class Fee: $30

Not all projects go according to plan, especially more complicated patterns like lace and cables. Missing yarn overs, decreases done in the wrong place, cables crossing in the wrong direction - these are just a few of the common hurdles that even the most experienced knitter encounters on a regular basis. Learn how to find and correct these types of mistakes - often without having to rip out entire sections of painstaking work!

Homework needs to be completed before this class.

Supply List:

50-75 yds worsted (#4) weight yarn, smooth and light colored is best.

US #6 and US #7 circular needles, also one set of double point needles in the same size.
