Tina Turner (Knitting):
Tina has been knitting since 1978 as well as designing and altering patterns since 1980. But she really increased her skill once she joined the Rochester Knitting Guild in 1998. (She served as president of that guild for three years and as hospitality person for five years). She started teaching in 2001 when she became a Certified Knitting Instructor from the Knitting Guild of America.
Tina learned to spin yarn in 2000 and was president of the Genesee Valley Handspinners Guild between 2005-2009 as well as treasurer for eight years. She is still a member.
She’s taught and lectured in many places including the Rochester Public Library, Rochester YMCA, Silver Lake Institute, private parties, Lodge at Woodcliff, Yarn Boutique from 2008-2013 and, of course, today she owns and operates Tina Turner Knits. And she was a Garment Judge for Finger Lakes Fiber Festival in 2015 and 2017.
She graduated from RIT 1988 with a degree in Hotel Management and brings those skills to Tina Turner Knits.
Tina Turner Knits is not just a knitting store, but a teaching and social studio where you can take a knitting class or drop in for open knit hours.
